Oral Pic 7

Picture 7: This picture depicts a scene whereby people, possibly volunteers or stall owners, are helping to clean up the area of a hawker center. These people are trying to make the area so clean because it is a common area, used by many, if not all of the residents, daily. If the area was dirty, not only would it be an eyesore to the public, but it would be a breeding ground for pests, and in turn, harmful bacteria and germs. I believe that on a typical day, the hawker center would be littered with rubbish on the ground, scraps of food swept away by cleaners who are trying to increase their effiency so that the table is more readily available to the members of the public. Flies would buzz around the unwanted scraps of food as ants swarm around the scraps and try to hoist it to their homes. I believe that the woman is concentrating on trying to play her part by making sure that the table is proposed hosed down by water, and not do a slip- shod job.

1. I live in a HDB flat on the 13th floor.
-No, my desk in my room is about the only place in the house that is cluttered. It is stacked with rough paper, textbooks and many other unidentifiable objects. Scraps of torn paper and used tissue threaten to overflow of the mini wastebasket by the corner of my table.
-I conduct clean-ups of my room once a week to ensure that the table is not an eyesore and the papers are recycled, filed or disposed of. The rubbish in the bin is disposed every morning or every night to ensure that germs do not breeed in my room.
2. I think hygiene is rather important because it is one of the factors that contribute to whether we have a higher chance of getting sick or not. It kills the germs on your body, making you more immune to contacting illnesses via poor hygiene.
-It might be difficult to have good hygiene when everyone around you is practicing poor hygiene habits, this way, you are influenced by the people around you to give a heck-care attitude towards good hygiene.
-Yes, this would lead the people around you to think that you’re paranoid as a little bit of dirt never hurts anyone. Furthermore, if you were to be too hygienic, your cleaning bills would be very high as you would be likely to make the house as clean as possible. By doing so, you are also wasting water on unnecessary cleanliness when you do not need to be so clean. This could also lead to a poor immune system as your body is not equipped to fight with minute amounts of bacteria in the body.
